Green River

This is the Green River. We have paddled this one a number of times and its always enjoyable. Fred is well known for paddling this little river backwards.

Well, the helpdesk was in need of some help himself on this trip. I found out fast that the Pamlico was not made for this at all! Gusto and I hit Patton's run (pictured here) just the way the guidebook suggested. However, we both found that the left side would have been the better way to go. Of course we know who made it through with no problems at all. Yep, the same dude who did the first class II on the green backward! Not only did my Pamlico not like Patton's run. The long wave trains pretty much sank me every 2 to 3 miles. I had to bail (literally) on this trip about 1/4 down the river.

We paddled out on Saturday May 5, 2007 on a trip from Sullivan's Island to Shem Creek. We had lunch at the Shem Creek Bar and Grill and headed back.

Mountian Island Lake

Will Linker and Helpdesk paddled this route back in December of 2006. It was a little over 4 miles with little current. Now looking at the map from overhead I wished we had taken a more southern route and explored Gar Creek. This is one we should consider in the spring of 2009.

New River 2006

The original "Hiketheriver" trip. This is our campsite. Note that we put Elgin far to the right of the other tents.
